In 1975, Elder J.E. Burgess came to Carthage to pastor the church that was known then as Carthage Pentecostal Church. For 30 years he and his faithful wife, Sis. Gloria Burgess, led this church to great places in God and in evident growth. In 2006, Elder Burgess endorsed his youngest son as pastor and the church agreed. It was then, at the age of 80, that the Elder semi-retired and chose to stay as Pastor Burgess’ faithful assistant. FAC is blessed to have the elder Burgesses continue as a vital part of the ministry of the church.
Elder and Sis. Burgess’ vast knowledge of Christian living and principles of life is held in high esteem and heeded whenever it is taught by the elders. Old fashioned in content and style, this elder is a very capable and anointed preacher of the Gospel. At least once a week his strong voice is heard proclaiming the same truth he has preached for over 60 years. FAC is abundantly blessed to have Elder and Sis. Burgess happily abiding in Carthage, MS.
